The Toy Exchange and Book Bank, a noble initiative by Mr. John Monteiro and his family was inaugurated today, in memory of his late wife Mrs. Lynette Monteiro. This is an initiative that supports the collection of used toys that are outgrown by children and also books that are in good condition, which will be distributed to the less privileged children and adults around Mangalore city. The concept of Toy Exchange and Book Bank is all about supporting the cause with non-financial aid.
Mr. John Monteiro has started this brilliant initiative of collecting various toys such as board games, arts and craft sets, puzzles, drawing books, soft toys, etc as well as the books unused by children and adults, so that it can be distributed at various orphanages, remand homes and Bal Bhavans so that even they enjoy few privileges that we have enjoyed during our lifetime.
Dr. V. Ravichandran was one of the chief guests of the function. Besides, donating the toys and books personally for this noble cause, he also spread the message to his Diya Systems staff to join hands towards this noble endeavor. In his message, Dr. Ravichandran requested all people to consider this initiative as their personal project and also spread the word to promote the cause. He also called upon the local businessmen and philanthropists to kindly join hands in promoting this idea through their organization or trust and help The Toy Exchange and Book Bank to achieve its selfless goal.
