The Trustees of the GT Foundation led by the Managing Trustee Dr. V. Ravichandran, had the privilege of honoring the eminent personality of India Sri K. Muralidhara Rao, an accomplished exponent of Bharathanatyam. He is a very committed and accomplished exponent of Bharathanatyam, a torchbearer of the Pandanallur style. He is the Founder–Guru of Nrityaksharam Mysore where he trains his pupils in Bharathanatyam, researches ancient works to unearth art nuggets from them and choreographs new themes. Sri K Muralidhara Rao has been instrumental in preserving and promoting Indian classical dance for more than 40 years. Out of the numerous felicitation and accolades, Karnataka Kala Tilaka, Shanthala award are the two prestigious awards he has received from the Government of Karnataka.
On this occasion, Ms. Anjali Chadha gave a wonderful dance performance. Anjali has been steadfastly committed to Bharatanatyam and she has blossomed as a dancer and a person under the watchful eyes of her Guru. Anjali has had the good fortune to perform in several group and solo dances in various venues in Louisville, USA, Mysore and Mangalore, India. Most noteworthy are her performances in honor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit to Louisville, and at the commemoration of 25 years of Dr. Vasundhara’s VPA center in Jaganmohana Palace Auditorium, Mysore.
The chief guests who graced the occasion were Sri Ananthakrishna, Non-Executive Chairman, Karnataka Bank, Mangalore and Sri M. V. Narasimhachari, Director, Kalasamarpana Foundation, Chennai.
During the event, Dr. Ravichandran launched a new initiative in association with the Akshaya Patra Foundation which will provide mid-day meals to approximately 50,000 children every day.
