The GT Foundation played a crucial role in the COVID-19 Vaccination Program during the pandemic, addressing financial needs across various domains and ensuring extensive vaccine coverage. Through the VaxAll Initiative, the foundation helped fund vaccines, leveraging local hospitals and care centers for pre-registration and administration. Efforts to continuously raise vaccination awareness in surrounding communities are persistent.
The Foundation, in association with the some of the reputable hospitals in Mangalore, has organized blood donation camps, increased medication availability, and coordinated ongoing medical aid for those in the Mangalore area and surrounding region.
One important health initiative that the GT Foundation undertook in conjunction with a team of doctors was to assist the Lady Goshen Maternity Hospital in providing treatment to women from the BPL (below poverty line) sector of the society. These services include everything from blood transfusions to supplying specific prescriptions for the treatment of various ailments.
Continuing its mission, the GT Foundation launched another program called the Corneal Transplantation Scheme on February 2, 2014. This scheme provides the gift of vision to those underprivileged individuals whose needs are very significant and immediate.
The program is overseen by Dr. V. Ravichandran under the able expertise of Dr. Srinivas Rao K, Founder of the reputed Darshan Eye Clinic and Dr. C.R. Kamath, one of the renowned ophthalmologists of Mangalore.
After the official inauguration of the Corneal Transplantation Scheme in February 2014, GT Foundation has sponsored the first ever Corneal Transplantation surgery of Ms. Rahimat, an 18 year old resident of Kerala. The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Srinivas K. Rao, Founder of the reputed Darshan Eye Clinic, Chennai.
