GT Foundation has partnered with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to build and open a new Mega Kitchen facility in Mangaluru, India wherein each day, the kitchen will serve 50,000 children attending government-aided schools in and around Dakshina Kannada and Udupi region.
The Bhoomi Puja ceremony for the same was held on Friday, 22nd December 2017 at Benjanapadavu, Mangaluru, India in the presence of His Holiness Sri Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji, His Holiness Sri Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji, Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Smt. Vandana Tilak, President, Akshaya Patra Foundation, U.S.A, His Grace Sri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice-Chairman, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, India, Mrs. Vidya Ravichandran, President, Diya Systems and Trustee of GT Foundation, Mrs. Indira Ravichandran, MD, Diya Systems and Trustee of GT Foundation and several other VVIPs, Ministers and MLAs.
“After years of planning and brainstorming, my dream of building an automated kitchen facility to nourish 50,000 underprivileged school children from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi region on a daily basis through the Akshaya Patra Foundation has finally turned into a reality almost after 5 years. I cannot express in words how happy my family and I are and we thank God almighty for his blessings upon us. We dedicate ourselves with passion, commitment, determination, and perseverance to complete this project and nurture 50,000 schoolchildren and become instrumental in eradicating malnutrition and provide an opportunity for the children to continue their education and make them greater citizens and leaders of tomorrow” –Dr. V. Ravichandran said during the occasion.
