Dakshina Kannada is considered to have some of the well-known and well-established educational institutions. However, a developed city like Mangalore too has schools in some of its areas deprived of basic infrastructure and amenities. GT Foundation supports some of these Schools in and around Mangalore for their development and upliftment, so as to enable in building a good infrastructure and thereby creating a healthy learning atmosphere with better facilities for the children.
The Foundation has taken few such initiatives individually and some in affiliation with the Rotary Club of Mangalore:
In the years 2004 and 2006, the GT Foundation and the Rotary Club of Mangalore together have jointly worked towards the development of the poorly aided Navachethana School by providing two classrooms for better accommodation of students at a cost of Rs. 4.50 lakhs. In 2011, Rs. 1.50 lakhs was donated to the Rotary Club of Mangalore towards the construction of an additional classroom for the School. Navachethana School provides quality education to the rural children of Neermarga and the surrounding region. The School had its humble beginning with just 22 students and has now grown to a full-fledged recognized school with over 600 students enrolled at the Institution.
The Trustees of the GT Foundation also provide immense support to the children of their maintenance staff that includes housekeeping, security, electricians, and so on for the advancement of their studies.
- GT Foundation has also donated Rs. 2.00 lakhs to St. Sebastian Higher Primary School, Permannur for setting up a classroom.
- GT Foundation has sponsored Rs. 1.00 lakh to Bala Samrakshna Kendra, Kutharpadav, towards the building of an Assembly Hall.
- Rs. 1.00 lakh has been donated to the Roman and Catherine Lobo School for the Blind, Kotekani, Mangalore for setting up a Computer Lab.
